Vermont Nursing Schools and Programs
Vermont, the Green Mountain state, is the place to simply stand and breath in the beauty of outdoors and nature. Or take advantage of nature's resources: skiing or snow tubing on the frosted mountains; hiking, biking, fishing, or paddling through the cool forests; playing a round of golf on smoothly cultivated hillsides. In winter, Vermont is the mecca for skiing on the east coast at a number of mountains. Adventures for families include a wonderful range of outdoor fun in the lakes and mountains, nature, art, and history museums, and visits to hospitable farms.
Vermont provides limited facilities to earn a nursing degree, but their schools offer a wide range of degree opportunities. The University of Vermont in Burlington offers the BSN, an MSN in five different specialties. Due to the rapidly expanding and evolving nature of the health care system, careers in nursing are expected to continue to grow significantly over the next decade. Vermont has many nursing programs to choose from which are all very friendly to your specific needs. Four-year colleges and universities offer comprehensive nursing programs; while tech schools and community colleges can help you get specific certifications. In addition, the role of the professional nurse is expanding to include an emphasis on leadership, management, and education. Many programs require students to complete clinical studies, either at the university's public clinic or at area clinics, hospitals, and other resident care centers. This valuable experience will help prepare nursing students and gives them important networking opportunities.
Nurses in hospitals, community health centers, group practices, long term care facilities, and elsewhere in the health care community, are being called upon to lead and manage departments within their organizations. In addition, they are being asked to as become educators, not only for the patients, but for the future nurses of their communities. For those interested in pursuing or advancing a career in the field of nursing, this is an excellent time. Many universities offer both online and campus based programs. Most schools allow you to complete coursework at your own pace. Browse a wide variety of accredited nursing schools to learn more about the nursing opportunities that await you.
