Montana Nursing Schools and Programs

Largely known as "Big Sky Country," Montana has amazing picturesque beauty. The state is full of vast ranches, has the best small skiing in America, and is a fly fisherman's heaven. Montana is home to Glacier National Park and has three entrances to Yellowstone National Park. Rich with Native American history and historic sites there is much to see in this large state. As a nursing student, you are sure to be taken by the beauty and abundance of outdoor adventures.

Montana has great nursing programs and is more than willing to give extra support to nursing students in hopes the nursing shortage does not increase. The rural areas are in special need due to the aging nursing population. Montana's programs range from community colleges to universities and have specific needs for PhD and specialty nurses. These pay higher as well, so it is a definite factor to consider when deciding what nursing program is best. Montana has a bill in place where, if passed, the bill would provide grants to nursing schools to help them increase enrollment in their doctoral programs. The lack of PhDs means a lack of faculty to teach new nurses. Scholarships are in place for nurses who agree to work for a certain period of time in particular areas, while some colleges are extending distance learning or online programs for the most rural areas of the state.
