Louisiana Nursing Schools and Programs

Louisiana is well known for its Cajun flair, intense culture, and is bordered in the south by the relaxing beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. There is a long-lasting influence of French, Spanish and African ancestry in the state. Louisiana has a fabulous preservation of history through the architecture, music, food and celebration of life. Louisiana is full of forested hills, marshes, bayous and lagoons. New Orleans is famous for its Mardi Gras celebration and is known as the jazz capital of the world. All of these are good reasons to study nursing at one of Louisiana's colleges or universities.

Louisiana is no stranger to the national nursing shortage and is doing everything possible to educate, recruit, and retain nurses. Louisiana is still rebounding from Hurricane Katrina and trying to build new avenues of study for prospective nursing students throughout the state. The colleges located in the New Orleans area are rebuilding and recruiting. One plan is for an Academic Medical Center in New Orleans. This project is a result of planning between Louisiana State University and Tulane University. There are options of diploma programs in a medical teaching environment, as well as nursing programs at the college and universities. Louisiana has greater urgency because residents made their mass exodus from the area pre- or post-Katrina and many never returned. There is an abundance of opportunities for your nursing education in Louisiana and we will help you explore the programs that will be suit your needs and goals.
