Teacher Shortage Forgivable Loan

Forgivable loans for Iowa residents who are undergraduate (freshmen ineligible) or graduate students enrolled in an Iowa college or university pursuing studies in Education in an area of shortage as determined by the Iowa Department of Education. Applicant must file a FAFSA. Award amount may be up to $3,000 and covers the current years' tuition. Recipient agrees to teach in a teacher shortage area upon graduation for a total of five years (100% repayment), with 20% of the loan forgiven each year. Number of awards depends on availability of funds. Contact students' financial aid officer or the Commission for more information and/or application.
