Description

 

Residential fellowships for graduate or post doctoral students pursuing a dissertation, final project or independent research program at Dumbarton Oaks. Three areas of study are available: Byzantine Studies (including related aspects of late Roman, early Christian, western medieval, Slavic, and Near Eastern studies), Pre-Columbian Studies (of Mexico, Central America, and Andean South America), and Studies In Landscape Architecture. Two levels of fellowships are offered: Junior Fellowships-for students who at the time of applicaton have fulfilled all preliminary requirements for a PhD. and will be working on a dissertation or final project OR Fellowships-for scholars who hold a doctorate or have established themselves in their field and wish to pursue their own research. All Fellows must be able to communicate in English. In addition to application letter, applicant must submit, proposal, and personal/professional data, and three recommendation letters to be sent directly to Dumbarton Oaks from scholars & faculty advisor. Award includes travel expenses, housing/housing allowance, research expense allowance and Dumbarton Oaks' contribution to health insurance. Number of awards may vary. Nonrenewable.
