Utah Nursing Schools and Programs
Utah has so much to offer with the natural beauty and abundant outdoor adventures. The serene Lake Powell is so unique, it is a must see boating experience. The ski resorts and snow sports are some of the top rated slopes in the nation. Famous festivals, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, amusement parks, and famous landmarks are just a few activities to keep a nursing student busy on their down time from school. Utah has amazing scenery that is peaceful, and it a hop, skip, and jump away from Nevada's gaming scene. Utah is one of the Four Corner states and has a large historical Native American history where the name "Utah" is derived from the Ute people.
Utah is well aware of the nursing shortage they face as the population increases in the state. Utah’s nursing shortage is currently the 3rd largest in the nation. The state lacks faculty, which they fully support current nurses to pursue their PhD to become educators. This will in turn open more space for nursing students and the waitlists will get shorter. The need for specialties nurses is high and Utah offers these programs which include gerontology, health policy, health promotion/disease prevention, health care systems, individualized study, oncology, information systems, nursing administration, nursing education, nursing policy and research. Utah has many nursing programs to choose from which are all very friendly to your specific needs. Four-year colleges and universities offer comprehensive nursing programs; while tech schools and community colleges can help you get specific certifications. In addition, the role of the professional nurse is expanding to include an emphasis on leadership, management, and education. Many programs require students to complete clinical studies, either at the university's public clinic or at area clinics, hospitals, and other resident care centers. This valuable experience will help prepare nursing students and gives them important networking opportunities. Many universities offer both online and campus based programs. Online nursing programs have become increasingly popular over the past several years. They are meant to provide a convenient and flexible option for working registered nurses or other health care professionals. Bottom line, Utah needs you.
